Direct Loan Servicing was more than helpful today

Today was a day I was dreading. My reluctant forbearance from last year is about to come to an end. See I had two surgeries in the last year and did not feel comfortable trying to squeeze student loans in while paying my medical bills.

I was a bit stressed and nervous about calling but I did anyway. Telling myself it was just one more thing off my list.

The gentleman on the line at the Direct Loan Servicing was more than helpful.

When I asked about my options for another possible forbearance, he went through my account and say I had 10 months of economic hardship deferments left.

We went through exactly what I needed to fill out on the forms he was sending me and made me feel very at ease about the whole process.

I have always had good experiences when I have stayed in touch with the people who manage my student loans.

So my bit of advice is this, before you get all flustered and stressed about things you may or may not be able to control. Try communicating first.

I found this number here: http://www.ed.gov/offices/OSFAP/DirectLoan/

A+ service in this case.
